I don't remember if the game actually return to the title screen after the "The End" screen.
The game don't have "New Game +" mode,that mode you something that FFXED can do(the editor just return you to the beginning of the game with everything that you currently have...and maybe something more)
theres no new game mode...that was in Final Fantasy X-2
i thought so in the beginning too that in X you could play after the credits...but it wasn´t so
so if you want to beat some hard monsters, you need to load an older save
if you read the wikipedia articles you´ll believe me with the new game, that it exists only in FFX2^^
but officially without doing stuff on the memcard theres no way to do a new game+...also the saves would have a notice like edited with ffxed or stuff like that or am i wrong? o.O (i needed one hack because i was too dumb to win the chocoborace in 0:0:0)
if you do a new game+ theres no sense in doing it...i mean...theres no 2nd ending or hidden stuff unlocked...
"Edited by FFXED" goes away when you save the game.
I don't see an option to learn the Al Bhed lexicon.

well...open FFXed
open your save file
go to "Item"
then scroll down
(tested on v0.68)
I've got everything downloaded, the file extracted, then when I go to the FFXED file it just opens a tiny white window with nothing on it.... then in a few seconds an about button shows at the bottom.... then I wait longer and nothing happens so I click on it... then it brings me to a BLACK screen that just sits there. Suggestions/help? Lol.

a tiny window is ok (because it IS tiny)...hm check if you have installed the latest java version...and normally only the "Load File" and the "About" buttons should be visible...hm...but if it turns after clicking to a black screen, then the application must have been crashed...
maybe you should re-download it, update your java version (i think sdk 6 is the latest or update 6...)
i don´t know if it could be possible, but have you other java things on your machine you could test? maybe you could update your gpu drivers...hm...the cpu usage would be interesting
