Anyone here using it at the moment? I just got it a few days ago and at first I didn't like it much, but then as I used it more I loved it!

I created a small PCSX2 public network. Just type in the search box "with:public PCSX2".

xD It gets really boring when not a lot of my usual contacts have it, so I've to fill the gaps of time and such.

OK, I'm a nublet on C++ ( started to read up on it yesterday after 10 years without touching anything except Basic, heh ), but got a mind for logic and easily grasp the concept of OOP.
Now, what I do NOT grasp and which is not really explained ( yes, I've googled ) ... why the heck even use declarations?
Isn't it more efficient to just do a definition at once instead of first declaring and THEN define?
I do get that a decl. doesn't set space for a func. and hence ... it really doesn't do anything except perhaps help the linker or something. It just breaks up the code afaik, considering the ODR ...
I assume there's some huge "AHAAA" thing here that of some reason isn't really well explained in any teachings online

Edited:There is a patch for the ntcs/US version already applied,thats the reason for not having that black screen i`ve got.Or maybe im confused and that should be applied to the gsdx and not some pnach file??

Laptop Hunting

I'm sure some of you know that I'm currently hunting for the best laptops available at the moment.

When I say best, I mean with this processor and this video card.

So far, I find Sager has these available for a fairly cheap price for a laptop. My only issue is there is no monthly plan so I need to save up on my money.

Sorry to ask this but I've searched around for a while and haven't found a laptop with these two items. If you guys know of another manufacturer that has that i7 and gtx 280m available, let me know. Since its fairly new and all, I suppose more will be available in the future.

Recording in PCSX2 [Help]

Now, this is probably asked a lot, and I've even seen a few threads on it, but I have different circumstances.

Right now, I'm trying to record some gameplay of Melty Blood:Actress Again

Now, I can record the gameplay fine with FRAPS, but I have to be in full screen. To get good speed, I enabled NoSync. This speeds up the recording and allows me to get good gameplay speeds. It still records the sounds, but at my computer's speed, and not the full speed, so they're out of sync. Now, I found with the ZeroSpu2 Sound plugin, I can dump the audio at full speed.

Now, technically this should work, but when I run the game in full screen, I can't end the recording. I can't even quit the game while the Plugin is recording (If I disable it before I go in game, it will let me quit). If I don't run in full screen, I can record the audio just fine. I hit "ESC" to go back to the main bootup window (GS or something...) and it saves the audio. In windowed mode, FRAPS won't pick up. Is there a way I can enable FRAPS to pick up in windowed, or is there an update version of this Plugin that fixes this problem?

The Plugin Ver. I have is ZeroSPU2 r514-Dev 0.4.6
I've had it since PCSX2 0.9.4, so it might be outdated. I do currently have the latest build. (0.9.6)

Hi guys. I am new to the forums. I am 21yo from Poland. PC gamer since 7 thats about me.... btw. Nice community Youve got here.
Remember I tried Pcsx2, 3 or 2 years ago and ShotC was not working. I checked recently and it works quite well. Not too fast but at least playable. rounding 40-60fps but seems slow most of time. internal 1024x1024, all speed hacks x2 only cycle thief slider set to disabled becouse it make it only worse.
Guess its as it is for my cpu

Anyway back to the topic
I don't know much ps2 games. My favourite are Shadow of te Colossus, Re4(much better than pc version), God of War and Devil May cry.

What other games Do You recommend? I am searching for ICO so don't need to mention this (which is kinda impossible to find anywhere in my country). I don't think to try out jrpgs as a pc gamer but who knows. ohh and I would ask mostly for ps2 exclusives becouse All that is for pc I proboably heard, played already

I have this file RPGVOICE.afs and inside it has ahx files. Whenever I play some of them I hear cracking, nothing more. Do you have any idea how can I listen to an ahx file? I found a plugin for a Media Player called foo_input_hvl.dll but I don't know how to use it. I hope you can help me out here because the past 2 days have been 90% fruitless.

Anti Virus Programs

I always wanted to know if it is worth buying a big anti virus program like mcafee or bit defender or Kaspersky. I am currently using comodo which offers free anti virus and a free firewall. So far, it seems to do my computer justice, although I do sometimes have issues with tracking cookies and adwares but never trogens, worms, or viruses.

Also, is there any other anti virus programs out there that are free?

CPU good enough? Check passmark!

I suggest you just add a minimum "Passmark" for what CPU is OK or not for PCSX2.
My system is "barely" running FFX in 1920X1200 ( including native at same setting ) with all working and effective speedhacks on, only having some minor slowdowns here and there, so it's a nice baseline.

( Yes, I finally caved in and overclocked to 3Ghz, the slowdowns were getting annoying xD )

At 3Ghz, I get a CPU Passmark of 2333.7 ( not complete rating, only CPU )
I will guess PCSX2 r1888 will work for some around 2000.
Would be nice with some posts on others CPU Passmarks here to get a baseline

Just thinking this will be a much easier and correct way for people to check if their CPU is good enough.

EDIT : ONLY POST YOUR PASSMARK CPU RATING HERE ALONG WITH YOUR CPU AND CURRENT SPEED AND HOW YOUR DIFFERENT GAMES RUN ON PCSX2 AND THE VERSION OF PCSX2

That way we can see if the Passmark actually fits as well as it does for other softwares. If you got issues with the SUGGESTION, PM me, don't mess up the thread.
Also, since people don't seem to get it, PCSX2 forum gets tons of people asking if their CPU is good enough in addition to "WHY IS IT SO SLOOOW".
Well, that's because they check the list, see a CPU that fits theirs and should run OK, whilst their CPU is in a little different class that is crap.

overclocking the i7-820QM

I've decided to buy the i7-820QM as my final choice probably (when I get the money for it). Now, It can reach up to 3.06ghz but I think I need more power out of it to play games like narutimate, fate unlimited codes, guilty gear and tekken (if I ever decide to buy tekken) at full speed. And it will also have the gtx 280m.

Its a new processor so there was hardly anything I could google as far as overclocking. Since it has a base frequency and a turbo boost, I guess there would be an option in the bios to change both. I have no idea.

And I know its a bad idea to overclock a laptop but do you guys think Its possible to crank it up to get maybe 3.5ghz without it going on a meltdown after a bit?

EDIT: of course, this is considering I'm taking care of it.. keeping it in a cool room, get some coolers etc.

Hello! This is my first thread here, in chatterbox, and it's just a simple thread to show and discuss about the performance of this great emulator (Beta 1888) on Mid-End computers, like mine. I made this thread to show that you don't need a MEGAHYPER computer to play games at full speed. You should be saying: Yeah, what game?, and I'll be honest, I just play Naruto Accel 2 because I only wanna play it, maybe later I'll make a video playing a heavier game, when I want to play one . I know, you can't see the FPS, my bad, but it's allways between 45-65 FPS while playing and 60-68 FPS (wut) on menus.
