# CPU options: EErec on, VUrec0 and VUrec1 on, MTGS on

# Plugins used: GSdx 1600 0.1.15 (hardware dx10), SSSPSX PAD plugin 1.7.0 , Gigaherz's CDVD Plugin 0.7.0 ,

# Description: I spent nearly two days on this.Did follow the threads here too.But nothing gave me a direct answer .

Even if I manage to run the game with some of the emulators mentioned above ( and I wasnt able to run it with the latest beta "PCSX2 version: Official Beta 1888" Version) I cannot save it at the save points in the game. The save screen comes and then it freezes.Nothing happens. Then I close the application with the task manager.

I tried saving my game with save state too. With one of the emu mentioned above I was able to save and retrieve the file. But a very dark environment came in which i was just able to see the glowy swords and stuff. Not playable at all. So I tried other versions of these emulators and
they dont even save the state. They crash!!
I was able to save the game with "pcsx2-0.9.6-r1533" version but then cannot retrieve it.It shows me few errors in a popup and the game crashes.

Basically what am trying to say here is that I somehow managed to find the right emulator for God of war 2,right plugins etc for it.But I CANT SAVE THE GAME with either "save points" or "save state" of the emulator.

Spent too much of time trying to find a solution for this.
I just Hope will get something here.

disclaimer: this is not a bug in the emulation code its about a (sadly essential) bug in the linux beta's user interface, its essential 'cause it keeps me from being able to test the beta on ubuntu 9.10 at all :/

when i click the configuration button of the graphics plugin selection (not in the plugin, in the main config window), it opens the Ethernet/Harddisk plugin's configuration window instead, so i suppose the bug is a wrong link (whether by number or id) in the function, probably a misclick while using the IDE, should be easy to fix it..

hope i dont draw too much attention away from more important topics like seg faults or other emulation code stuff, but i just thought you should know
thankful for any replies
and big thx for coding PCSX2 (having the windows beta working in a splendid fashion)

The game seems to run fine with normal frames but the shadow on your character looks really bugged out. It's looks like you can see the shadow where the light would be blocked to cast it, like in thin air. I am using the latest beta version of this emulator because 0.9.6 seemed to have severe graphical glitches including the shadow looking the same, but the beta only has the shadow problem.

Any ways of fixing this? Possibly just turn it off completely if not because I really don't much care for his shadow.

Hello there. I have a strange issue in Persona 3: FES.

When trying to move the character, he darts across the screen
like an olympic runner. The framerate is about a constant 60, and
everything else seems to be the right speed, except that menus
have slightly laggy movement. I'm not sure if it's related, but before
playing the game, I overclocked my cpu (e8400) to 4.0 GHz.
Again though, the frame rate looks perfect.

There are no speed-hacks enabled, running in GDSX (all modes/versions tried). 9800 GTX+.
The result is the same with both micro and super VU.

*Edit: for the sake of comparison, I do not remember this issue existing in 0.9.6, if that info is needed.

Hello,
I've found two problem with zeropad (svn version) under my linux (debian lenny/squeeze with a 2.6.31)

I use the svn revision 396

The first trouble is : if i open the controller config windows, i close it, then i reopen it, the system will launch me a "double free or corruption" then kill the soft with a sigabrt.

With some investigation, this problem was resolved with this little modification
The Joystickinfo must have been deleted elsewhere (but I haven't investigate it), so just clear them will be ok.
I've first try to put "*it" to null after the delete, but it doesn' correct the double free.

The second problem is a bit more funny (always on this plugin)
When I change only a button (with a joystick button), it is saved without trouble.
But if i change more than one, the software display the right buttons, but save only the first ! (for example : if i put triangle with JBut1 and after this square with JBut2 , only jbut1 will be saved).

After a bit more of investigation, i have found that this comportement was caused by "savestate".
I've done a workaround, but i can't say why it doesn't work before.
Here my workaround:
(I just hope that "=" on a vector do a clone )
[A] Framerate, without speedhacks, is the speed of the game outside of any slowdowns you'd encounter on actual ps2 hardware.
A) Framerate, without speedhacks, is the speed of the game outside of any slowdowns you'd encounter on actual ps2 hardware.

Now allow me to elaborate a bit.
I tried a combination of all gpu, cpu and speedhack settings in hope of finding one that worked better than the rest. I repeated this for various gpu plugin revisions, and repeated both of those trials with pcsx2 0.9.6.
My results were the same, plus or minus 1-2 fps between gpu plugin versions. Excluding 1448, all mentioned GSdx revisions had 51-53 fps range, most recent averaging out to 53 constant and dipping low every now and then.
Besides checking for framerate gains or loss, I also moved about 5-10 steps in various directions numerous times to check for animation speed fluctuations (i.e. checking for emulated ps2 frameskipping or slowdowns).
I would then enable, one by one, combination by combination, the speedhacks checking again for framerate gain/loss and overall game speed improvement.
Noticing that the framerate was improving with some speedhacks I thought I was making progress, as music and sounds were no longer skipping, until I returned to town only to see myself move about at the same speed as without the hacks. Clearly the game hasnt increased in speed, just framerate (allowing better syncing music & sounds).

Boggled as I was, I tried a even more combinations, with the "VU Cycle Stealing" changes as the last of the bunch I tinkered with.
"VU Cycle Stealing" Moderate with 1.5x or 2x EE sync, -AND- Large & Very Large (all EE sync settings) gave the game a "slow motion" effect even though the framerate was still 60.
To better explain this, lets use the points I made above as the example.
With no hacks involved fps=53 & game speed ~90%. With hacks, fps is 60 & speed is still ~90% (but without skipping music & sounds). With the more advanced VU steals, fps is still 60, but speed is ~55-65% now (music/sounds still a-ok).

Any place in the game where I would get 60 fps without speed hacks its fine, but if I got just even 59 fps w/o speed hacks it would be susceptible to the wierd slow motion effect.
So instead of 59 fps at 98% speed, I would wind up with 60 fps at %60-70% speed. Sorry if that dosen't make any sence.

Note of interest: my machine is usually running at 3.8ghz (11.5x333fsb) which is Folding@home, OCCT, & Orthos (Small/Large FFT's and Blend) stable @42h each. Pcsx2 crashes after a while, but it was long enough to let me test well enough.
@3.8ghz, no speedhacks, I get 60fps at the town gate, and 57-59 at the church, which leads me to rule out any emulated frameskips from the locations I chose to test in as game speed was as it should be given framerate difference.
Bugs as stated above.
Wierd behavior with framerate and its relationship with game speed in action and not on paper.
Speed hacks, while being what they are and basically unsupported(?) have basically zero benefit, and only at extreme settings do they have a negative effect.

Screenshots and Wall o' Text in hope that it can be of use.
