Why would you want to play a game/watch a show where you can't understand the voices? That crap drives me nuts.

Also, voice acting is one of the LEAST important parts of a game, in my opinion. All that matters is story and game play. Besides, I happen to think many of the English dubbers are quite good, and can definitely portray a good amount of emotion. Many of the Japanese voice actors, on the other hand, are monotone at best.

Like I said earlier, I'm of the opinion that's it's mostly a "Everything about the original is one million times better" sort of nonsense.

Like i said before, i understand what they say, i have subtitles. Bad dubbings cant send emotions throught their voice acting like original voice actors doo, its about quality. Emotions are universal, you dont have to understand by ear what they say to understand the emotions of the speaker.

Only opinion, i bet you never realy heard any good voice acting.
Quote:All that matters is story and game play.
In a game that uses voice acting you cant have one without another, bad voice dialogues break the game no matter how good story is. It doesnt matter how good your idea is, what matter is how you realised it.
Quote:I happen to think many of the English dubbers are quite good, and can definitely portray a good amount of emotion.
Like above, you havent heard good voice acting yet, maybe because you was forced to play with english dubbings.

Opinions opinions, have you ever played any jRPG that is english dubbed, but with undub patch?

nope, its about quality, some people dont like when game is getting broken with poor quality dubbings.

I agree that most English-dubbed animes are complete crap. I haven't really played the games based on those animes, but I can only assume the dubbing will be of the same quality.

However, I think the Final Fantasy voice acting is pretty good.

well then, in FFX, did you noticed how Yuna was using "yes" word?... it was a word recorded only once, and then replayed almost each time Yuna said "yes". Also actors didint even watched the scenes that they was acting for! Most of the scenes had wrong voice emotions. For me it was just awkward to listen to it.

I dont realy care if some dude enjoys dubbings, i just want to be able to play the games the way i want ;/ I always wonder why game developers so rarely put both languages in single game.

Check my profile for hardware/software and games i played on PCSX2.

The sounds are in loss less format, aka wav or something similar. If you include both languages, it would require dual layer DVD's, which cost more than regular DVD's. Not to mention those games that already use dual layer DVD's are going to have problems. Of course, they could always replace loss less audio with something like mp3 quality audio.

I think I read somewhere that the FFX disc was practically filled to the brim as it is.

i dont mind paying a little more for quality, also if thats the case, then they shouldnt make dubbings at all, they should translate only text and leave voices alone.

Check my profile for hardware/software and games i played on PCSX2.

well if the dubbing stopped those people would eventually start to understand the great voice acting after some time(hopefully) Tongue

Well you see this way they lose a large audience (or so they think): kids. Most dubs are targeted at very young people or at an audience who is highly uneducated. I agree that the best way would be including both, I bet they could find some solution to the disk space issue either with compression or some other smart trick
