32-bit Xubuntu 12.10 Freeze
#1
Hello I added ppa:gregory-hainaut/pcsx2.official.ppa to my repository and installed pcsx2-unstable.
I am running 32-bit 12.10 Xubuntu on a Thinkpad 420 i5 CPU Intel GPU. For whatever reason pcsx2 either hangs when I try to load a game or I just get a black screen. Is this a known issue?

There is a known issue that Intel built-in GPU does not yet support the minimum OpenGL >= 3.3 so that could be why there is black screen or hanging.

Here is a thread from a couple months ago talking about the same thing.

GSdx, as Datankac said, need opengl 3.3 + some opengl4 extensions. Let's hope end of 2013.

However on zzogl, it is another story. Mesa supports all extensions but I think there is an intel bugs somewhere because nouveau works nicely:

I was able to get the emulator Dolphin working fine and it uses MESA. Are there some extensions zzogl uses that Dophin doesn't? Forgive me if this is a stupid question. I am not a programmer.

I don't understand your question. What do you mean? Mesa is correct with Dolphin so you conclude that Mesa doesn't have any bug with any programs!

Anyway Mesa is working nicely for Nvidia GPU, and probably older Intel GPU too.
