no. get a 10 ghz Core i7, that should do it.

Even if Gabest optimize GSdx as hell, the VUs in pcsx2 will be always the bottleneck.

In other words, at this point in time, emulating the PS2 to the point of where it can run games at 60fps is extremely difficult and will be so for years to come. I mean, the PS2 ran the way it did because it was programmed to run that way. But the difficulty involved with programming an emulator which sole purpose was to trick a computer into thinking it's a PS2 makes it that much harder to run at a steady 60FPS; computers were never meant to run PS2 games in the first place. There are several programming languages involved and people have to find a way for them to communicate with eachother (PS2 code with x86, etc), which complexity would probably drive someone like me insane trying to figure out. I'm surprised how far PS2 emulation has evolved since 2002-03! Games that once ran at 2FPS now can run full speed!

You can only play ntsc and pal 60 games with 60 fps.
Pal games run normally with 50 fps if you set it to 60 fps the game is too fast.

by the way, not all PS2 games run in 60 fps [talking about NTSC versions ofcourse], most run at 30 fps, god of war series for example does 60fps, just a cosmetic plugin note i guess Wink

...talking bout emulation, PS2 is in deed complex machinery, it has it's emotion engine so complex, here are specs:

CPU: 128 Bit "Emotion Engine"
System Clock: 300 MHz
System Memory: 32 MB Direct Rambus
Memory Bus Bandwidth: 3.2 GB per second
Co-Processor: FPU (Floating Point Multiply Accumulator x 1, Floating Point Divider x 1)
Vector Units: VU0 and VU1 (Floating Point Multiply Accumulator x 9, Floating Point Divider x 1)
Floating Point Performance: 6.2 GFLOPS
Compressed Image Decoder: MPEG2

Graphics
Clock Frequency: 150MHz
DRAM Bus bandwidth: 48 GB Per Second
DRAM Bus width: 2560 bits
Pixel Configuration: RGB:Alpha:Z Buffer (24:8:32)
Maximum Polygon Rate: 75 Million Polygons Per Second
3D CG Geometric Transformation: 66 million Polygons Per Second

Audio
Number of voices: ADPCM: 48 channel on SPU2 plus definable by software
Sampling Frequency: 44.1 KHz or 48 KHz (selectable)

l/O
CPU Core: Current PlayStation CPU
Clock Frequency: 33.8 MHz or 37.5 MHz (selectable)
Sub Bus: 32 Bit
Interface Types: IEEE1394, Universal Serial Bus (USB)
Communication: via PC-Card PCMCIA
Disc Media: DVD-ROM (CD-ROM compatible)

...as you see, it has a CPU running on 300MHz, ok it has 128bit, todays PC's run on 64bit architecture, but our CPU's are mostly dual core on 2.5+ GHz, & it's GPU is running on 150MHz!?!

As far I know, many conversions that are made for PC, are CPU hungry, there is an anwser to it all, games that are converted, are most made almost from the scratch for PC, & ppl here want to make a program, that will do conversion in real time, it's quite hard!

Look at specs of PS2 & look at your rig's spec, you'll see what's a PS2 power, & how far is a Gaming PC xD

Cheers...

Actually it's more like a GFX card, 4x32 bit, not a real 128 bit CPU.

...well, Emotion Engine works like a CPU, but yeah, becouse it's VU's it's a GPU too ^^
