There was one change in r1648 that I've been watching to see if it caused any issues, so that's why I was paying particular attention on this one...
And yeah, a dump of Tekken 5 would be useful to me, if nothing else, because it seems to break easily. I thought I'd heard it had issues dumping, but I could be wrong.
(And I'm headed to work, so I probably won't check this thread for another 12 hours or so...)

Try with microVU and clamp modes in the "config > advanced" settings set to none. Does the pcsx2 console window show any error?

Someone on googlecode says there's some GIF issues that started with r1648. Might be related?

uhm yeah my Tekken 5 PAL freezes too, even loading a savestate in the menus freezes completely when older than r1648 would load normally

You would make a terrible emu programmer. When multiple people report problems on a game starting on a specific rev, when:
* the rev is suspected to have potentially game-breaking issues because of minor functional changes.
* The games in question are known to have varied behavior depending on users' BIOS.
* The users have very clearly and competently demonstrated that the games ran fine prior to a specific rev.
... then you can note that your copy works fine from now until the problem gets fixed, and it won't change the fact that the problem exists and needs to be fixed.
Thank you.

Also tested r1648 some more and found FFX-2 spamming with "(op) op_ot_draw() ... timeout" and being all slow and glitchy in game despite having high FPS (glitchy like when using heavy speedhacks and they actually skip some stuff).
