AES CPU Extension for Hardware mode?

Earlier today I looked at the AES Extension on processors. and gave me an idea. Would it be best if AES was used as another option for choosing an extension? And make it possibly be fastest on hardware mode?

AES extension only provides several instructions highly specific to AES encryption/decryption, so it is almost useless for all other purposes, including emulatorors.
