All games are laggy..I don't know what I'm doing..

I've tried all the graphics plugins and followed the config guides but I just cant figure it out..Almost very game skips and the audio along with it, giving it this horrid, scratchy record sound. Gregory Horror Show doesnt even want to start. The game play for Final Fantasy X and X-2 is alright but pixely and anytime I change grids or use a special it starts to skip again. Drakenguard is ridiculously slow unless I use the speedhacks but it makes the cutscenes flash by. The only games that play and sound normal if not the tiniest bit sped up is The Sim's-Bustin' Out and Kingdom Hearts..Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Here are my specs-
CPU: AMD FX™-4100 Quad-Core Processor
CPU Speed: 3.6 GHz
RAM: 8.2 GB
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti
Pixel Shader version 5.0
Vertex Shader version 5.0
Dedicated Video RAM 1.0 GB

In order to help you further with your problem, please make sure the following are all provided.
  • The version of PCSX2 you are using.
  • Any non default settings you are using.
  • What games you are trying to play and if you are playing them from ISO or DVD.

Thank You.
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070

Im using PCSX2 1.0.0 with the 'Balanced' preset and no changes to the plugins since I dont really understand all of it. All the games are ISOs.

Drakengard is quite demanding and your CPu isn't powerful enough to play it well.
You should be able to run FFX flawlessly (expect maybe demi spell & ifrit's overdrive, that are likely to cause slowdowns...) by enabling only the recommended speedhacks.
don't forget to enable especially the mtvu hack, btw...

For the pixellated graphic you have to increase the resolution, a 3x native resolution should be fine with your GPU.
Some games work better with the DX11 GSDX plugin, while other works better with the DX9 so you should try both of them, moreover you CPU support AVX instruction so choose the GSDX version compatible with the AVX.

Finally your CPU is unlocked and with a decent cooling a 20% OC is quite easy so you can consider it...anyway do it only if you know what you're doing (read some guide from internet before if you never did it).

From my personal experience I would say MTVU does not do much good for Bulldozer CPUs (seems related with single threads running at two cores on the same module). But I'm not really sure about it, please test with and without it.

EE cyclerate and VU cycle stealing speedhacks are still the best bet increasing performance and work fine in most games, don't be afraid to experiment with them.

I think it depends on the game: with GT4 the MTVU on my FX-6100 gives up to a 45% increase in FPS. On a two module as the 4100 the highest increase is probably lower (maybe around 30%) but on some game I'm quite sure that it works.

Good to know, I'll give it another try.

If you didn't installed the Windows patch for the FX probably it will help to set PCSX2 affinity with cores 0 2 4 (or something like that to avoid using both cores of a module).
