Allow 8bit textures FFX
#1
In the pcsx2 wiki for final fantasy X, the fix for some issues conflict each other,
For example -
Slowdown on Shiva summoning
Status: Active
Type: Minor
Description: During scenes like the full Shiva Summoning the FPS drop significantly and the GS% usage in the titlebar of PCSX2 shows 99%.
Workaround: Try a revision before r14xx of GSDX, like r1398. It occurs only if your CPU and video cards are not fast enough. Also disabling Allow 8-bit Textures might help.

Slowdown casting Demi
Status: Active
Type: Minor
Description: During fire based magic casts or gravity attacks like Demi there's a big slowdown and EE/GS/VU% usage don't get high.
Workaround: Reduce the internal resolution. Also disable Allow 8-bit Textures. It occurs only if your video card is not fast enough.

Mi'ihen Highroad FPS
Status: Active
Type: Minor
Description: Although the rest of the game runs fine, Mi'ihen Highroad slows down significantly.
Workaround: Deactivate the Allow 8-bit Textures option in the settings of GSDX.

Menu FPS
Status: Active
Type: Minor
Description: Although the rest of the game runs fine, the menu slows down significantly.
Workaround: Deactivate the Allow 8-bit Textures option in the settings of GSDX.

The fix for these issues is disabling allow 8bit textures.
But,

Subtitle Text Graphical Glitches (Outlining, Flickering, Graying)
Status: Active
Type: Minor
Description: Subtitle text shows various graphical glitches: uneven outlines (some text has much thicker outlines than other text), flickering text, grayed-out text
Workaround: Activate the Allow 8-bit Textures option in the settings of GSDX.

To fix this allow 8 bit textures is necessary

So, should I enable or disable 8bit textures to run this game properly?

since, the specific option influences all the other issues there is no way to fix all of them in hardware mode. the best would be to use the option which fixes larger no. of the problems.
We're supposed to be working as a team, if we aren't helping and suggesting things to each other, we aren't working as a team.

So, disable allow 8 bit textures for the win?

yes, that's the best choice since, that fixes all the other issues except one.
