I don't know my old way was going to take 111 hours to generate 1 million random records. The New ways takes 9 mins and 49 seconds.

I've seen this plenty of times as well, SO3 is the game I'm currently playing the most with PCSX2. The black screen with boxes only occurs in certain areas, I'm guessing it depends on what type of graphical elements are on the screen at the moment. I think the swirl effect is just a very heavy shader - battle swirls have been known to be broken on PSX games in the past and in some cases required specific per-game fixes.
