This emulator runs stunningly well on my non-gaming laptop. Mind blown to be playing the likes of ICO on it.
I've been monitoring the power use of all applications and games on my new laptop, to get a feel for how long I can run various things on battery.
PCSX2 wants about 12.5 watts at default settings. That's a small price to pay for all that it's doing, I'm sure, but it's also pretty high.
Can anyone offer any advice about what config settings are likely to give the biggest gains in terms of reducing power draw? I guess they will mean less fps / graphical quality, but I'm willing to experiment if I can make big gains.
I guess the answers will be very similar to "how do I get this running on a low end pc", but possibly there are some subtle / clever differences.
All I know is there can be quite a difference, e.g. I changed from the default "DX11 hardware" to "DX11 software" rendering engine and the power draw went up by a few watts, so I set it back to hardware!
Current emulator settings: Default.
My Laptop:
Windows 11
i7-1165G7 CPU, Iris Xe integrated graphics
16GB Ram
Display: 2560x1600
Thanks in advance...
