Any tips?

Hi, just wondering if I could optimize my current setup to make games play a little better. I can play games like MGS 3 (PAL) at around 35fps average, Silent Hill 2 (NTSC) around 40fps.

My specs:
nVidia 8800 GTS 640mb
4gb DDR2 ram (and yes, I know its only read as 3gb)
AMD 64 X2 6000+ processor, 3.01ghz.
Windows 7 32 bit. (I do have XP installed on another partition, but it doesn't seem to be working at the minute, would using XP give any noticeable speed increase?)

And my configs (im runnig the latest beta - r1888) :
Graphics - GSdx 890, SSE2, 0.1.14:
Windowed - Direct3D10 (Hardware) at native resolution.
Sound- SPU2-X 1.1.0, default settings

2x speed hack enabled, INTC Sync hack enabled.

CPU:
EERec enabled, and both VU recompilers ticked. Multi threaded GS mode enabled. Frames limited.

Thanks. If I have missed anything out please tell me.

Old settings:

With your suggested settings:

Little bit better FPS, although codec scenes seemed a bit slower. But I can live with that, had a higher FPS than before so thanks (only disabled speed hacks, all my other settings were the same as you said)

Mentioned in my OP that I was using the beta, I'll try the CPU settings now.

After installing the plugins I get this error when I launch PCSX2:
"Program can't start because w32pthreads.v3.dll is missing"
Once I do get into PCSX2, I have to reset the plugins folder in order to use GSdx. But when I get in game, oh my god MGS3 runs beautifully, 45fps average. I only played for a little while, but rarely dipped below 40fps. Thanks a lot!

w32pthreads.v3.dll has to be copied into your installed PCSX folder. (same folder as PCSX.exe is).

I`m not sure, but I think that file should be included in the downloaded package.

Whoops, missed that file Blush, cheers. Once I've done that I may try something other than the native resolution.

Hmm, placed it in the folder worked, so I quit the program relaunched and the silly error message is back.

Damn, my mistake again, I was putting it into the folder from an older version of PCSX2 *facepalm*

The game is running pretty smoothly now! Runs really nicely at 1024x1024, not native resolution at 45 fps average:

Really please with the results, considering not long ago I was struggling to scrape 30 fps!
