Anyone notice PCSX2 1.7.0 sound is quieter?

I've been testing Star Ocean 3 in both 1.6 and 1.7 and it appears to be significantly quieter in the new dev builds. Not sure how it is in other games, though.

On top of that, there appears to be a intermittent loading bar on the mouse when playing, which wasn't present previously.

IIRC, it's intentional, see here: https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/pull/3787
Also, already asked before here: https://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Muted-so...tor-builds

It was a different commit, we had a bug on our end where the volume was getting distorted on final output - https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/pull/3962

Ah, I see. Still, it seems unnaturally low even at 100% everything on my PC. Any way to max it further without downloading audio amplifying programs?

What game is it unnaturally low on? We did some tests and PCSX2 matched the volume of things like youtube videos and other audio sources, before it was way too loud.

Well, I've only had the chance to test out Star Ocean: Till The End of Time so far. It seems stuff like voice lines is a bit too low now. I've looked through PS2 footage of the game and some of them also appear to be low volume, but each video varied in audio level a little bit, and every one of them had really poor audio quality to begin with. I did see some videos of the PS4 port, and the levels seem to be in the middle of the old and new volume percentage on the emulator; although, I'm not sure if it was boosted when it was ported.

All in all, it's not too big of a problem, but it does make it a bit harder to hear than before. I guess a volume boost option would be nice, such as something that goes over the 100% limit in audio settings.

Rather than looking through PS2 footage, where it can be misleading, why don't you try playing the game on real PS2 hardware and test it that way?

Your PS2 still usable after about 20 yrs old, mine not usable anymore. How you maintain it ?

Haven't had a TV for a while, and my computer isn't compatible with AV cables.

I haven't done anything to maintain mine and it still works just fine. I just make sure to keep it clean It's frequently suggested to try out a game on the actual PS2 hardware and compare it to the emulator. So obviously a lot of people still have a usable PS2. Scenerix, do you have a PS2 console?
