Assertion failed - bakugan battle brawlers

I have ben having a problem with bakugan battle brawlers. All of the sudden I cant get past loading screens that include monster animations. I get an assertion failed error. I tried a few things I found but none of them are working.
The message i get is this:

start by using memcard instead of savetsate

I didnt realise that was a thing thanks. that said i am past trying that if i dontt want to loose all my progress. Should I restart my game from the begining using memcards or is there something i can do?

you can try to save one memcard when you loaded your savestate, maybe.
but can't guarantee your memcard save won't be f***ed up.
some games don't react well to savestates
