Audio looping early in game
#1
Hi all, I've been experimenting to see if I could manage to stand up PCSX2 on a machine with Intel graphics only.  I managed to get through an intro, but immediately upon entering the game I encounter a strange issue with audio looping.  This is different from stuttering audio trying to sync with the framerate in that it actually jumps back a tiny amount repeatedly a couple times a second and replays the same audio.  Think like when a TV glitches out and somebody gets stuck on the same letter, like "c-c-c-c-catch-ch-ch-ch-ch a fi-fi-fi-sh."  Also, this is not tested during a heavy part of the game - all that's happening on-screen is text on a black background with a voice-over.  The intro FMV plays fine.

Game tested:  'Eternal Ring.iso' cb81245e3463510c5aa9496788dc221299926b744f66d887a62ac98a7e19629e
Emulator:  multilib/pcsx2 1.4.0-8

OS:  Arch Linux x86_64
Kernel:  Linux 5.2.0-arch2-1-ARCH
Resolution:  1366x768 @ 60.14Hz
WM:  i3
CPU:  Intel i5-5200U (4) @ 2.100GHz
GPU:  Intel HD Graphics 5500

I preemptively started at preset 4 and changed the following settings...

Disable framelimiting -> off  (tried toggling this, did not help)
Renderer -> OpenGL (hardware)  (tried using SW rendering, did not help)
Audio interpolation -> 0/Nearest
Audio output module -> 2/SDL Audio  (originally set to 1/PortAudio, which caused the intro to not run smoothly.  changing this made the intro work)
Audio SDL API -> alsa  (also tried pulseaudio, did not help)
Audio synchronization mode -> Async mix  (tried both Timestretch and None, neither helped)
Controller -> OnePad 0-dev 1.1.0  (Lilypad did not work)

No other changes made.  Log with extraneous CD/DVD reads removed is below.  Any ideas?

Edit:  changed log to attachment due to formatting.

I don't know the specific messages you get, but try this to fix:

Can you try to download the latest dev-build (1.5.0)? For Ubuntu(based) distros, there's a ppa for this, https://launchpad.net/%7Epcsx2-team/+arc...csx2-daily
Maybe it's on AUR for Arch?

If that doesn't solve your problem, it's possible that your Disc is scratched or wasn't properly read when you ripped it. If so, make sure to clean it and rip it once again.
Tired of always changing your PCSX2 Configuration for different games?

Thank you!  FYI, gcc in Arch is currently on 9.1.0 which has this issue: https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/issues/2948 so you must use either gcc-git or downgrade gcc.  I did the former and the dev build (local/pcsx2-git 1.5.0.r3197.f40907986-1) does solve the issue!

Edit:  also, an interesting note, even with the dev build setting the preset to #5 makes the problem return.  So it may be caused by a setting that changes in between presets #4 and #5...

Good to hear that it's fixed for you then Smile

Well, if you use higher presets, that might cause issues (That's why 2 - safe is the default), just use the one that works best for your games/system Wink
