Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance lagging suddenly
#1
Hi im new to this forum. I've been playing baldurs gate dark alliance 1 for about 12 hours total now and it has ran perfectly so far however at the end of the second chapter where you fight the ice dragon for some reason the fps went down to like 15-20. It feels like i have tried everything to get it to work again. I tried switching to software rendering but it went up to like 120 fps and the whole game was sped up so i switched the graphics renderer to direct 3d 12 and the fps went back to being normal and the game speed was normal also. But now at the start of the third act for some reason whenever i interact with an npc it goes back down to like 20 fps and slow mo.

I'm on version 1.7.5946 and i reset my settings to default.
My specs are:
Intel i5-11400F 2.60GHz, 6 cores
GeForce RTX 3060, 16 Gb ram

Im gonna try to keep playing and see how it goes and if its playable tomorrow so i'll come back to update in case i can manage to live like this.
Any help is appreciated Smile

i had it on auto the entire time before this whole thing which i assume was vulkan but then when it got all laggy i switched but now ive switched back to auto again so im guessing vulkan is the best and its just some glitch with the game. is there any way i can lock the fps to 60 so the game doesnt speed up but also without constantly dropping down to 20 randomly?? ive tried playing with task manager open and its not my pc thats making it lag because cpu usage is at like 40% the entire time.

1 - is this a laptop ?
2 - when you don't know what you're doing, just leave default settings (auto)
