Bandicam vs FRAPS for PCSX2
#1
Bandicam is better than Fraps for PCSX2? And what about the quality of the video output file that's created from Bandicam? Fraps creates massive raw avi files that you have to convert first to proper format (and size). Not sure how the quality + size is from Bandicam in comparison to Fraps. (And how much it affects PCSX2, because Fraps can easily kill a game).
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 @ 3.60~4.20 GHz | Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200
MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Super @ 6 GB | Samsung 980 1TB | Windows 10 Pro x64 (22H2)

This really isn't a question for this thread, so I'm gonna split it, then I will answer.

Edit: Split from "Will PCSX2 run fast on my computer?"

Okay. So Bandicam vs FRAPS. Bandicam can use GPU recording, which means it has MUCH less performance hit if you set it up that way. The files it creates are H.264 encoded so they are much smaller. They will be VERY SLIGHTLY less quality than FRAPS because of being encoded. But just like with FRAPS, you need to re-encode the files before sending them somewhere, because even though they are smaller, they are still very large. High quality Bandicam recording is ~50 megabits per sec.

Once you re-encode the files, the quality difference is negated. So in short, yes, Bandicam is better for recording PCSX2. Since PCSX2 is massively CPU intensive, and FRAPS records with the CPU, it kills PCSX2. But Bandicam records with the GPU, and all but the weakest GPU will have power to spare when running PCSX2.

Why not use OBS for recording o:

Well, one reason is it supports Intel Quicksync, Nvidia NVENC, but not AMD APP. So with an AMD rig you can't use GPU recording with it. Plus OBS is designed for streaming, and while it CAN output to file, it's far less configurable than Bandicam for that.

Yes it dont uses GPU but who cares ? i dont have ANY difference with and without OBS recording.

people with weaker cpu's will see a difference. That's why people care.

I dont have the best CPU, i cant hold 60fps in KH2, still its the same with and without recording.

KH2 is not a demanding game. Unless you have a godly CPU, Fraps will cause about 50% of games in PCSX2 to drop to 30 FPS.

"not demanding" and still i cant hold 60fps somtimes, so that means either my cpu is not good enough or the emulator cant handle it
