Okay guys, we are going way off topic here. If we want to discuss this further, let's make it's own thread.

I remember trying to record Budokai Tenkaichi 3 with Fraps and it absolutely destroyed the FPS the moment Fraps was running. It went from 60 FPS to a mere 15~20 FPS. This was on an i7-920 running at 3.00 GHz.

I'll definitely give Bandicam a try, and will even test BT3 as well. (Got a better GFX card than I had back then too).

Personally I find MSI afterburner better than both fraps and bandicam..
It's so much more configurable (and free)

It even support quicksync out-of-box and you can use this for AMD VCE engine
A vfw codec may exist for nvidia cards, but I couldn't find it

for AMD GPUs I think you could give the Raptr AMD App a try. If not mistaken it's optimized for AMD hardware.

strange since, in my i7 4770 i noticed only 2-5 fps decrease when using fraps
We're supposed to be working as a team, if we aren't helping and suggesting things to each other, we aren't working as a team.

I wouldn't call that strange. The 4770 has monster single threaded performance when compared to the i7 920
System Specs
CPU:AMD FX 8350 3.5ghz turbo to 4ghz
GPU: Sapphire HD 7750 GDDR5
MOBO:Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Rev 5.0
RAM: 8GB
OS:Windows 8.1 64 Bit

Yeah the 4770 is miles ahead of the i7-920 lol.

The i5-4670k that I have now (@3.4GHz) actually runs most games better than my old i7 did.

I could record SOME games with Fraps ok on the i7 920, but majority of games just got outright killed.
I'll give Bandicam a shot later today (or tomorrow) depending on how much time I have tonight.
