He could save 100-200$ and get the same performance in 98% of games.  It's of no issue, but is 1-2% worth 100-200$?

Exactly this. It's the same reason why it's stupid for most people to go on Intel's enthusiast platform.

Seeing as I coming from 920 which has HT and i have used quad cores with out ht i gona be upgradeing to 6700k if you dont multi task and purely game it can be argue it not worth it but if do multi task then it not waste. and for the people that refuse to OC cpu at stock 4ghz from intel is great thing

Both sides have there merits.

Both the 4790K and 6700K have awesome HT and multitasking capabilities. There's quite a difference in pricing though. You could use that extra money saved for additional RAM (If you plan to do other stuff besides PCSX2). Or it could very well the few missing bucks for that 'better' Graphics Card you always wanted. They also both run at 4.00 GHz stock speeds.

Personally I'd go for the 4790K just for those reasons. But that's just me. (For me, money actually is an issue, so I wouldn't be going for the most expensive CPU anyways)
In the end it's up to the user if he wants to spend the few extra bucks for the 6700K lol.

DDR4 is good thing if your gona sit on the new build for 4+ years if you upgrade more frequent then sure it dont mater..

It a matter of opinion like said they all have there merit. I didnt upgrade my pc 2 years ago for simple reason of I knew I would sit on the the new build for 4+ years, there for didnt want to have old tech like ddr3 and there were 3 different occasions where i almost did.

I want to thank everyone that contributed to this thread. I had my mind set on getting a Skylake 6700K but after reading this thread and doing a bit of research, I've decided it's not worth the extra cost and will be getting the Devil's Canyon 4790K CPU and will attempt to OC it to 4.6Ghz or maybe even 4.8Ghz. With one of the CPU water coolers from Corsair, what are the chances I can get it to 4.8Ghz in your opinion?

Also, can anyone recommend some good ram for this processor?

Don't get a Corsair water cooler. Get a NH-D15.

I have the NH-D14 on my CPU. It's wonderful.

I've the i7-4770 and it is such a beast. Running PCSX2 at more than 200FPS when FPS limit unlocked.
I do have a GTX780 though.
