As you said it depends on the game.
I'd say go for 4x internal Res for most games, and tinker with AA until it suits you.(ogl renderer)
Some games won't allow you to go higher than native if you want to avoid getting slowdowns

Overkill spec. Putting too much upscaling resolutions like 8K upscale will turn to saturated graphics. Just only select the right upscaling resolution for that.
This is PS2 game so upscaling it to extreme level won't transform the PS2 game into PS5-level game. Also, look for upscaling bugs that might happen and activate upscaling hacks when needed.

I build it from source code. Everything works EXCEPT software mode in windows. Linux 64-bit version only have working gsdx software mode so far. 64-bit builds are not yet available for now.
