I don't think so. It may happen but highly depends on games. My P4 3.0 gave me around 20-40( can't remember the exact range) on Kingdom hearts 1 , about the same or lower on Tales of destiny 1 and also same with some other Japanese games. I could get up to 50 in menu for some titles. In game, it was too slow, I didn't even bother truning on speed hacks, and I don't think speed hacks could make up that much speed, not for every games anyway.

go to cpu in pcsx2 and check the MTGS box .

If you haven't enabled your ht, you will need to enable it. One way to check is to look at your task manager. If the CPU usage history shows two boxes instead of one, your HT is enabled.

It should be an option in your BIOS.

The default setting in bios is usually enable, if its already on, there is no need to go into the bios.

At least where i live (Switzerland) its a good moment to buy pc hardware, prices are low Smile

Things you should think about:
-Do you want top performance and parts that will last very long, or something with a very good price-performance ratio.
-Dx11 cards are on the way, do want that, i think ati already has some models out?
-What Monitor do you have? (if you play on 1280x1024 max with a 19" monitor like i do u dont need the best graphic card there is)
-Intel or Amd and do you plan on overclocking, there are cpus/motherboards that are better for that. And i would pair intel with nvidia cards and amd cpus with ati cards Smile

I recently upgraded and i'm completely content with it:
-AMD Phenom II X3 720BE 2,8ghz overclocked to 3,2ghz -> idle on 33°C and under load ~41°C and that with the standart stock fan!
-Ati Radeon 4850 1024mb
-Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P

Generally i'd say Ati+AMD have great price-performance ratio, Intel combos are usually a bit more expensive but have also bit more power (especially the Core i7).

I didnt try all my Ps2 games but the ones i played (mainly FFX & God of War) where running at full speed Smile
