Best graphics plugin and settings for high end system?
#1
Hello all, new member here that has been lurking for many years.

would love to know what are the best graphics plugin for 2 highend systems:

1) 8700k + 1080ti

2) ryzen 1700 + 1080

both systems on 1440p resolution monitors.

currently using gsdx with avx2. is this the best plugin for best image quality/rendering?

just looking for the best quality possible, speed is not an issue.

any help/recommendations is appreciated!

Default plugins will be fine.
You can increase internal red up to 4x for most games and set 16x msaa
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
RAM : 16 Go

use direct3d 11 since you are using windows & 16x anisotropic filtering, texture filtering forced bilinear, internal res to at least 4x & don't turn on anti-aliasing, just increase the internal res to 8x if possible.

OpenGL is recommended for Nvidia, not Direct3D.

Best to ignore all the other tips from that post too. Tongue2

How about: DX11 is faster, but OGL more accurate? Smile

DX11 is faster because it is less accurate(and because of AMD GPU driver issues with OGL).
If you have an NVIDIA GPU and disable the blending&depth in OGL they should be fairly close in performance.

I recommend using 8x native resolution instead, or 6x native if your GPU can't handle that (I'd like 7x to be available in the GUI as well. Going from x6 to x8 is sometimes too much of a performance jump). 4x native is too low, considering OP has a 1440p monitor and some games use lower internal resolution. Ratchet & Clank games absolutely need a very high internal resolution to be crisp.

For example, if OP plays a game at 4x native that natively has 512 horizontal pixels, if it's widescreen they will be 2048px for a 2560px wide monitor. No matter if there is a lot of AA, they aren't enough pixels.

Also, MSAA needs a lot more VRAM and performance than expected, and can lead to some graphics bugs. I haven't tried it in more than a year, though. I don't remember 16xMSAA working either, at least with a Nvidia GPU.
