Best settings for FFXII?
#1
Hiya, great job on the Mac port (half port?) it actually runs extremely well and far better than I ever expected it to. Incase anyones interested, I'm getting 24-60 FPS with 4xAA and bilinear filtering on a quad 3ghz Mac Pro with a Radeon x1900.

The reason I'm posting is to ask whether anyone knows of any settings that will clear up Final Fantasy XII in terms of graphics and stability. I have had some luck so far by enabling the FPU Clamp hack (this one helped a lot), disabling frame skipping (removes the stutter), FFX geometry hack, no vertical stripes, and 32bit render targets but there's still a lot of stuff on screen (particularly in rendered cut scenes where the camera is floating around some distance from the characters) that really makes it hard to tell what is going on. My guess is that the camera is ending up inside the geometry of the surroundings and their textures are showing up over the characters. When this happens, the characters often take on a translucent look which makes it hard to tell where they are or what's going on (see screenshots at the bottom). So, anyone know a way to get this to stop happening?

Also, the game routinely crashes on loading up a save (from the memory card, not a freeze) and sometimes during scene changes and I can't seem to find a way around this either, so any help would be graciously received. A log from the crash reporter is below (left out the loaded libs since they are all in there).

One more thing, is there any way to reduce the sensitivity of analogue sticks for the ZeroPad plugin? I'm using a Rockfire PS2-USB converter and the thing has no deadzones at all so the analogue sticks continuously fire off signals to the game whether I'm touching them or not.
Using GamePad Companion lets me kinda do this by mapping things to the keyboard and then using the simple input plugin for PCSX2 but that loses me the analogue input and limits movement to 8 directions and one speed (which means no walk/run).

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'm using the latest SVN build and the 0.96.7 dev build of the ZeroGS plugin. XQuartz and the CG framework are also on the latest versions.
