you'll get both at the same time, more or less. PS2 didn't have settings like that, and the emu tries to match the PS2 as best it can. Some more information on your system would help though..

Ok. I have P4 2.0 ghz. ati radeon X1550 and 712(or so) mb ram.
I have a 40gb hard drive.

You wont get playable speeds with a p4, this game is really CPU demanding. Stick to your PS2.
