Black Flicker every 20~30 seconds. 1.4.0

I just downloaded PCSX2 1.4.0 from the download page.

I had a previous version of 1.0.0 from years ago but both are having the same problem.

Playing Xenosaga Ep3, I have a black flicker every 20~30 seconds. just ficks to black for a frame or 2, and then all is normal. 

This was not happening a few months ago, so I'm not sure what is happening.

I've played through the entire xenosaga and FFXII games before and never had this flickering before. I even have a video of a fight from Xenosaga 1 on my youtube channel.

But now it's flickinger to black constantly, and I have no idea whats causing it.

I make an individual PCSX2 portable Install for each of my games so that I can put them on Steam as individual games. I've done this for years and didnt have a problem with flickering then either.

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):

You might want to update to a dev-build of PCSX2, because 1.4 is from 2016. Most games perform much better with the dev-build (Not all, but I'd highly recommend you to give it a try).

If you want to use different configurations per game, you might have a look of a tool I wrote for exactly that purpose: https://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-PCSX2-MultiConfigTool

With that tool, you don't need multiple installations, just the configurations will be managed separately, and it will let you create shortcuts also (Which you might add to Steam as well).

Using a BIOS file with PCSX2 which you have downloaded from the internet or from a PS2 console you do not own is illegal. You must own the console the BIOS file came from (even if it's broken) to be legal.
