Black square while playing Summoner

Having a weird issue with this game.  Everything else seems to look and play great (although I'm sure it could look better), but there's constantly this black square in the upper left corner no matter where I go.  Any suggestions?

Oy! Well I took the pictures (one for the PS2 and one for the game) but for some reason the website's not letting me add them. It just says "Release to initiate upload..." even after I released.  Can you give me help with that?

ETA: I even converted them to PNG files (same as the photo in the original post) but it still won't let me add them.

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

1 - give latest dev build a try (use avx2 QT build)
2 - don't use savestates that much. that will cause you problems. try to save as much as possible on memcard, and use savestates only as a last resort
