Black stripes with all NAMCO games ??
#1
Hi!

So , seems every game from NAMCO (atleast Tekken 5 , Ace Combat 4 , Soul Calibur 3 , Death by Degrees , etc) has these annoying thin vertical stripes (when you use scaling) and the only way to play without this issue is use Native Mode (or custom res. like 1020x1020, 1260x1260 etc.)

Why "only" NAMCO games have these lines?? Is there any "fix" to play these games with high scaling ??

I know you all will say to use native res... but the wonderful of PCSX2 is the capability to use high resolutions which the PS2 itself cannot do. Like in GT4 , this game with high scaling looks like a next-gen game.

Sorry if I looks like a bit worried , but I really want to enjoy these games with high scaling and without these retarded lines in the screen.

ps: for the people which don't know what I'm talking about , here is a screeshot.

only Namco have these because of the engine they use.

Yep.

It will look right at native res.
Also, you can use a custom internal resolution,
but the width (the first number) must remain under a certain count.

I think that "magic number" was like 1200 something.
Basically, 1920x1080 will not work,
but 1080x1920 will. Wink

Yeah 1200x1200 works, and inverted resolutions like 1080x1920 do too Wink

But there isn't a way to fix these vertical lines even in a near future (very near I hope Laugh)??

And I know all NAMCO games works ok with native res. and custom res. but I use PCSX2 first because the quality it have over the PS2 console and because I don't have a PS2 console Laugh

I am not a developer, so this is why I'm asking about this Rolleyes

Why these vertical lines wasn't fixed yet ?? This is my problem... I want to understand why this issue still exists... like the black sky in Burnout series.

I know isn't easy to fix these things , but in six or seven years of the PCSX2 existence no one was deeper in these issues to fix them??

And if you don't want to do a mature answer, don't waste your time typing in my thread ok...I'm not here to start an retarded war because of this.

Have you considered the idea that the emulator devs don't really know what the exact problem is at this point? refraction already said it's relative to the game engine. If more was know, he'd probably have told you.

It's kinda like some games, Baldur's Gate for example, that have issues related to the engine used to develop the game. Sometimes everything that could be figured at this point has been tried (a lot of guess work without documentation). Fortunately for you, this is a very minor issue in comparison. These are PS2 games after all, so don't let it surprise you if you see various little side-effect from up-scaling some to resolutions beyond what's natural for them. Smile

Native res isn't /THAT/ bad on today's nice 720/1080/1200p monitors anyway.. but even the inverted resolutions that don't have the black lines look nearly as good as those that introduce black lines.

I know this , so why not the developers (or atleast one) say:

"This is a know issue and at the present time we don't know how to fix it , but we are working on it and we will try to fix ASAP."

It's hard to say this??

And about Christie's eye , the screenshot I've taken from google is not mine here I dont have this problem.

Isn't bad really , but isn't much good... if you played with high scaling (like x4+) and with inverted resolution (1080x1920) you must note a crucial difference (atleast for me) THE ALIASING.

But I will not enter in details about this. I really appreciate what the PCSX2 devs have done till the present time and this is the most important thing.

I really hope the devs fix this problem and as I told before I'm not here to start a war about this , so this is my last post in this thread , if any moderator wish to close this thread, feel free to do.

Thanks everyone for your answers !!
