Blinking textures in Ar Tonelico 1
#1
Hello,

I'm having some troubles with blinking textures in Ar Tonelico 1.
For example, the plant circled in red keeps appearing and disappearing when I move around (it doesn't do anything if I stop moving).
Same issue with some little parts of the stone path.

I'm using PCSX2 1.4.0 with these graphic settings:

I tried switching to software mode and the problem is still present, even if less noticeable.
Switching to DX11 or OpenGL doesn't change anything.
I also tried playing around with the various options and hacks but couldn't get rid of that problem.

My system specs:
OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Home
Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134
Processor Intel® Core™ i5-7500 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 16.0 GB
Display NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

Does anyone know a way to fix this?

I guess software mode should help.
since it's an entirely 2D game, it won't hurt using SW mode, anyways...

Also he was using DX9 Jesalvein, shouldn't he with his machine use OpenGL? Also use the latest version of PCSX2 which you can get at: https://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/

Tried a development build? 1.4.0 is very old at this point.
Problems? Check out the development builds for the latest updates.

Mobo: ASUS Prime Z370-A
CPU: Intel i7-8700K (3.7 GHz)
RAM: G.Skill TridentZ, 2x8 GB DDR4 (3000 MHz)
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti FTW2 (8 GB)
OS: Windows 10 Pro (64 bit)

Oh yeah Red Pandas are cool too.

It's less noticeable in software mode but still present. The plant still blinks but it doesn't completely disappear like in HW mode.

And same observations in 1.5.0. However, with this version, the 3D map doesn't slow down in certain places when using software mode. So I can switch to OpenGL SW, it would make my problem less visible at least Smile

I was wondering...
does it actually happen when you play the game on your real console ?
( I mean the blinking textures)

Good question.

I just checked... and it does happen. Blink
About as much as it blinks in SW mode. Guess we can't expect PCSX2 to fix such bugs that already existed in the original game lol

At least, by switching to SW mode on the newest version, I managed to make it less noticeable without slowing down the world map.
Thanks for all the replies!
