Brightness problem

Hello! 
So yesterday i downloaded pcsx2 and bought a joy-stick,got in a good mood downloaded spartan total warrior and it started no problem.
But as soon as i get in the game's menu the brightness goes through the roof.It doesn't stop when i start a mission its very bright and unplayable.
I tried manually lowering the brightness but that made the screen darker while the game was still bright and unplayable.I don't know how to explain it,but has anyone had the same problem and is there a fix?
