[Bug Report] Jak 3 - Final boss defeated... ends with a black screen.
#1
# PCSX2 version: PCSX2 1.4.0
# CPU options: EE/IOP default, VUs default, speedhacks off, game fixes off.
# Plugins used: GSdx 20160105132032 (None custom installed)
# Video settings: Attached file on post.
# Description:

In Jak 3 on the final boss, once the final blow is dealt it triggers an on-engine cutscene (like all cutscenes in the game). On my version, you'll hear the audio play from the scene but no video. Once you hear it stop, it doesn't continue onto the following cutscene and instead you can only hear the ambient sounds like weather. I looked up this scene on Youtube which is how I was able to find out what goes on.

What should I do to fix this? I asked some people on Discord but as you know, it's not like a forum where you can easily keep track of a discussion with others. They recommended a few things:
  • Turn off speedhacks, which I did have running. The game can only run smoothly with it on for me, but I will survive with it off if it means I can complete the game.
  • Restart from a memory save and not a save state. I almost exclusively play from save states as they are much more responsive and up-to-date than saving in the actual game's memory. Two of my three save states were at the final boss, and the remaining one was from about one-two hours prior in gameplay. Someone on Discord said that restarting from a save state at the end would keep the problem in, and only a clean load from a memory stick would reset it. Therefore, I restarted the mission from one of the two recent states to achieve this. Still no luck unfortunately.
  • Toggle between hardware and software mode. I did this because I found that it corrected many texture errors in the game, and I hoped it would resolve this one as well. It didn't.

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):

Alrighty. This run I did ended in the game crashing entirely and the program closing itself. This log reflects that occurrence which was started from the latest load state. If you'd like a log of an instance where it gives a black screen instead, I will run it to get that upon request.
