Doubt it. But you can check CPU by running Prime95 stress test.

It definitely seems like random throttling to me. No idea why though, and no idea how to fix it either Sad

This is odd. On desktop I would be suspecting VRM throttling. Hmm.

I'm still suffering from this annoying issue.

I uninstalled my Nvidia GPU driver and ran the game with my Intel GPU. On average I got around 30 fps but hoped I wouldn't still get those huge random drops. Unfortunately they still happened, in the same places. Instead of dropping from 60fps to around 40, they dropped from 30 to around 10-15.

Any other suggestions??

I never noticed it before but it has happened in a few of my PC games. However many continue to run flawlessly (as they always have).

This may be unrelated but I feel its worth a mention. I had been experiencing really low fps in random locations in fallout 3 (similar to pcsx2) and no matter how low I lowered my settings nothing seemed to get rid of them. In my last attempt to fix them I installed this mod http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/17209/?, which (according to the readme file) "will trick the game into thinking you have an Nvidia geforce 7000". This completely got rid of the fps issues and I can now run the game near maximum settings at a stable 60 fps.

If that incident is indeed relevant then I would assume it is a driver issue as bositman suggested. but since I have tried a number of older drivers (both Intel and Nvidia) I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

I feel I need to apologize. as shown by Blyss Sarania I did think that this issue was limited to pcsx2. since most of my games are still playing without any issues.
