Can anyone tell me how to Rip music from Jak and Daxter 2?
#1
I noticed that a few of then official soundtracks for Jak 2 (The ones you can download from Khinsider) are missing, but I need some pointers to where I could find a program that rips the .MUS files. Any suggestions?

-I basically need a way to convert .MUS files to .MP3 or .MIDI sequence.

What I meant was that most Youtube OST's for Jak 2 have missing music, so I wanted to Rip the Game itself to get that music, without searching around the Internet.

Take a look at the ISO. Either open in using 7-zip (it will enable you to see the files inside) and look for one with a music sounding name (*.MUS or *.BGM etc). Then load it (or the whole ISO if you can't find an appropriate one) into a Hex editor (I use HxD) and see if you can find data that looks like this

0A 00 EE DF FD 0D 3E 21 31 21 13 03 E1 ED ED 1B
1A 00 3E 00 30 4D 0E 1C F1 F0 F0 00 3F F2 C2 C4
29 00 D4 D2 E3 02 1F 1F 3B 4E E2 5F 31 4D 1E 51
26 00 0F 1F 00 00 10 EF 1E 05 0F 42 F0 20 E0 ED
27 00 22 31 C6 BD 0F 12 DD 0F EC 11 FF 2D 13 0F

Note the 00 lining up. They can also be 01 or 02 with 02 being the most common. If you can see this and the sections are 2-8mb long without being broken then the game is using xa audio (well ADPCM technically) like 95% of non RPG games and you're in luck. You can then use a program like MFAudio to open up the files change the offset and play the music. If you can get that far write back here and let me know and I can take you through whats required after that.

I wasn't able to find it.

I should post the Hex Values. The first 5 rows.

010000000300000020000000B0040000D004
000060060600300B06004CE8020053427632
020000000400000061746F6C0A0000000100
200024002100340000005000000050010000
000000006006060000000000050000006174

It has no reference to the values you posted. So this means that the .MUS file is in a unreadable format. I tried it in MFaudio, and It only showed static.

probably you should look everywhere in this file for this codeblock - at least in the first 20% - not only in the first 5 lines.

But if it doesn't play in MFaudio, then what program should I use?

Sorry I think we're in different time zones so the reply is late. I'm not looking for those exact values more the pattern. A column of 00 or 02 lining up in a hex editor. I have Jak 1 in a box somewhere so I'll try digging that up and taking a look as it'l give me some clues. If I can extract the music with that then there's a good chance I can apply the same thing to number 2.

If you're using MFAudio you need to selec "RAW - Raw Sound Data - Compressed ADPCM". It defaults to uncompressed so you need to set it to that manually.
