Can my computer run the emulator?

How can you hate intel for personal reasons?
There just a processor company...

I mean if you said, I hate them because there tech support sucks, or they ripped you off, there over priced any of those thing I would be like hey okay, but something personal, that sounds a bit off, mind telling me pretty please =]

Cache size has a lower impact on AMD CPUs because their memory controller is integrated into them. My 5600+ only has 2x 1MB of L2 cache, yet my memory bandwidth for read, write and copy operations is around 8000 MB/s.

In case you're referring to the 89W version of the 6000+, which only has 2x 512kB of L2 cache, look at the brighter side — at least it produces less heat. Wink

I suppose I could throw a cheap am2+ 5800 or 6k in temporarily.

Um......You mean Phenom II's? And no.. they're not horrible, far from it.

You have a +5200 and can't play FFXII? I have a +5000 and I'm pretty much at the end of FFXII.
Sorry if I went off topic..
Sounds good, it must be a configuration problem on my end. I can run it at around 40fps atm, but I'd rather use my real PS2 if I can't get full speed. I'll play around with the options more, thanks.

no, i had 5600+ overclocked to the limit and radeon hd4850 and ffx was unplayable, athlons just arent good for emulating... phenoms II and intels get good performance. Now i have phenom II x2 550 @ 3500mhz and when i turn of frame rate limiter in FFX i get 200-300% fps.

FFX unplayable on a athlon x2 5600 overclocked? sounds like you had the ATI bug or some bad overclocking actually, that 5600 on stock speeds should run it the same as my E2160 which is full speed most of the time unless ofc by unplayable you mean less than full speed all the time Tongue

ah well at least you got it running fine now :)

Ditto. I can play FFX at full speed without any overclocking whatsoever.

All of the things you listed are personal reasons. Hating them because their products were horrible would not be a personal reason. Hating them because of an instance that happened to me personally is a personal reason. Their products are well done, but I hate the company for my own reasons.

Also, it would be 'their' in place of 'there.' And your whole comment is a run-on sentence. Just as long as we're being technical.

My main reason for wanting high cache is mainly for games like GTA and SC. They both run best on quad cores though, so there's no point in worrying about it until a better upgrade I guess.

Since I already ordered the processor, is the rest of my system up to par with playing the PS2 games I want to play?
