Aggressive CRC or skipdraw = 1 should disable the effect that causes slowdown in quickenings.

Also MTVU can be a bad idea if the VU are that high (I learned this once from Blyss...) What happens if you don't use MTVU (but the other hacks if needed)

Yeah, if the VU is 90+, generally turning MTVU off will help.
However, based on what he said, I'm guessing it's only that high during the quickening, and otherwise is helping. When I played IZJS, MTVU helped.

Basch is the worst from what I've read. But Vaan's third level quickening made a small dip for me too.

hmm for me it was not really noticeable, but it might have, since it's also a fire based spel, but with way less particles.
