Can we update a save !?

I just opened PCSX2 and in the update it's written :

Installing this update will make your save states incompatible. Please ensure you have saved your games to a Memory Card before installing this update or you will lose progress.

Is there any way to update our saves ? By using a program or something ? Or will I be stuck with my current version for the 10 next years because I don't want to lose my saves ?

Just do what the prompt says
Load your savestate, make an ingame save, update pcsx2, and load your game from memcard instead of savestate
