yes, there is a "gamefix" in the emulator settings to switch to software mode during FMV's, this will force Native resolution

That is the strangest thing! I think what really threw me off was the low-res text, you'd think despite the pre-rendered cutscenes the resolution of the text and text boxes would be amped up as well - is there any way I can make the text look better?

Bah. I should have figured that out. I was looking at those shots back and forth and noticed the artifacts were in consistent locations. I wonder why it didn't hit me that they were MPG and not JPG artifacts? lol, oh well, glad you got it sorted.
