Cheat codes stuck?

Hello guys! I'm in a bit of a situation in where I was playing a game (Final Fantasy XII to be exact) and i needed the cheat code to not lose health as the part i was doing was severely hard. But i saved the state because of safety reasons and now every time i go into the save state, even with the cheat code gone and unenabled it still acts as if its enabled. Is there anything I can do? I really don't want to restart the game. Thanks!

make a memory card save, disable cheats, then load from the memory card
