Cheats in 1.7?

Hey all, struggling to get cheats working in PCSX2 1.7 and was hoping for some help please.

I got the cheats from gamehacking.org, matched everything up and in 1.6, these cheats apply and run fine. But in 1.7, they don't even seem to be recognised and don't apply at all. 


In 1.6, it's simply this file 74EB4E40.pnach in the cheats folder. 
I've copied what is in that file below. 
When I copy the same thing over to 1.7, it doesn't seem to do anything or recognise the cheats. The only cheats it does recognise are the ones for the game that came when I extracted the cheats_ws folder, and placed them in the cheats directory, but they were only widescreen support fixes so not particularly helpful.

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):

Thanks for the response, but I don't really seem to get an error, it just doesn't seem to load the cheats.
There's nothing in the logs file, however I did notice that all those folders have been created in /mydocuments, instead of being in the PCSX2 subdirectory. Is there any way I can change this please? I have the portable version so I'm not sure why it defaulted to my documents.

I did reset the cheat directory, just don't want anything else going into the my documents folder

Create portable.ini in the install directory. Mine has 'RunWizard=0' in it, but that may be leftovers from very ancient version.

Thanks, I've done that and it seems to have worked. Still having no luck with the cheats though unfortunately

One thing I did notice is that when I run the game and select "edit cheats" or "edit patches", the file it asks to create is "SLUS-21286_74EB4E40.pnach", whereas on 1.6 my cheat file is just "74EB4E40.pnach"

Even if I create the file with slus in the name and copy and paste across, it still doesn't seem to work

Make sure to enable cheats in the emulation settings and take a look at the cheats UI in the 1.7.

Hey there, thanks for getting back to me. Sorry for the delay. I was able to get them to work thanks to your post. I did have cheats enabled, but I had to go through per game settings and enable the cheats individually since they were all off. It now works fine, happy days!


I do have another issue now though, unrelated to this. I don't want to clog up the forum, but should I make another thread or keep it in here?
