Cheats not working

I have recently downloaded PCSX2 1.6.0 and I have downloaded ratchet and clank. Then I decided I wanted some cheats, so I downloaded the PCSX2 cheat converter and entered the codes and converted them. Then I changed the name of the file according to its CRC and then I enabled cheats but whenever I started the game it crashes.
