Crashing after trying to run CD.

So, I've been trying to successfully get a PS2 game running pretty much all day.

I'm pretty sure I've got everything installed and configured correctly, but for some reason I can't get games to run.

I've tried both GTA: Vice City and Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. Vice city's compatibility says I should at least get to the intro, and Star Ocean I should be able to get through the game.

However when I try to run the game it won't work. I get the message:
____________________________________________________________
An unhandled or unrecoverable exception occurred, with the message:
The GS plugin failed to open or initialize.
Pcxs2 will now close. More details may be available via the emulog.txt file
_____________________________________________________________

I used to get an error that said I needed to update direct x, however I updated and now that message doesn't come up.

The cdvdrom is set to P.E.Op.S

I have windows 7 64x.
Also, I can emulate PSX games, just not PS2.

Any help would be really appreciated.

PC specs? PCSX2 settings? Plugin settings?
Core i5 3570k -- Geforce GTX 670  --  Windows 7 x64

Okay.

I've got 8gigs of RAM.
Intel Core i5 3.2ghz CPU (4 CPUs) ~3.2ghz
Graphics is an ATI Radeon HD 5750.
Windows 7 64 bit.

And then Plugin settings:

Interface: W2k/Xp IOCTL scsi commands.
Drive: Drive D:
Caching mode: None-reads one sector
Try to limit speed, Don't wait until drive is ready, check tray state, show message box on reading error - all unchecked
Try again on reading error- checked, retry count is 5

And then I guess I don't really know what you mean by PCSX2 settings, there's quite a few different menus.

You need to trouble shoot

Eh...Could you please be a little bit more specific?

I've tried to fiddle with the settings quite a bit, however nothing really seems to do the trick.
It's hard for me, because I don't exactly know what about half the settings mean.

Create an iso of your game disc and work with that. Should be easier that way.

Ah man. I have no idea how to create an ISO.
I tried creating an image with Alchohal 52%, but that was like .mdf I believe.

I'll do some more googling.

Although I'd REALLY like to be able to run off the disk.

Use the free tool "imgburn". Its easy and creates fine images.
Playing off of the discs is possible but comes with problems..

So, then will I have to use a different plugin to use the .ISO files?

or the internal iso loader if you are using latest beta.
