Crazy Framerates
#1
Hi, relatively new to this whole thing, I got a pcsx2 emulator and, excited to try it out, booted it up... only to be confronted with a crazy framerate problem. Running Persona 3 FES, during the loading screens and initial logos it starts off running at anywhere from double to four times the standard framerate, and then suddenly crashing back down to thirty frames per second, with no happy medium. I've tried importing a couple of plugins from the 0.9.8 beta build (currently using the 1.0.0 build) but nothing's really working. I figured you guys might be able to help. I read the sticky, and I realize that laptops aren't ideal for this, but I'd like one last opinion before I give up on this.

Here are my specs (copied from the log looking thing that boots up with it) Operating System = Microsoft (build 9200), 64-bit (running windows 8)
Physical RAM = 7386 MB
CPU name = AMD A8-5550M APU with Radeon™ HD Graphics
Vendor/Model = AuthenticAMD (stepping 01)
CPU speed = 2.095 ghz (4 logical threads)

And here are my current plugins.

Binding GS: C:\Program Files (x86)\PCSX2 1.0.0\Plugins\GSDX 1.4 Frameskip Mod.dll
Binding PAD: C:\Program Files (x86)\PCSX2 1.0.0\Plugins\lilypad-r5350.dll
Binding SPU2: C:\Program Files (x86)\PCSX2 1.0.0\Plugins\spu2-x-r5350.dll
Binding CDVD: C:\Program Files (x86)\PCSX2 1.0.0\Plugins\cdvdGigaherz.dll
Binding USB: C:\Program Files (x86)\PCSX2 1.0.0\Plugins\USBnull.dll
Binding FW: C:\Program Files (x86)\PCSX2 1.0.0\Plugins\FWnull.dll
Binding DEV9: C:\Program Files (x86)\PCSX2 1.0.0\Plugins\DEV9null.dll
Thank you for your help in advance.

GSDX Frameskip mod? Never heard of that. Have you tried it with regular GSDX?

Is frame limiting on? (Config -> Emulation Settings -> GS -> Disable framelimiting(make unchecked))

Or that. You beat me!

"Regular" GDSX? I'll try using this one...

GS: C:\Program Files (x86)\PCSX2 1.0.0\Plugins\gsdx32-ssse3-r5350.dll

Well... still not as wonky as before, but it's still way below sixty.

Your PC is pretty weak.

Set native resolution.

Play with speedhacks. Try MTVU first. Then EE cycle rate. Then Vu cycle stealing.

But notice. Speedhacks break things. So YMMV.

That helped a lot more, thanks! I wish there were a way to prevent the occasional slowdown, but this has largely helped. I appreciate it!

Edit: @Nobbs, where would I find that on my machine? I thought I posted them in the opening post...
