D3D9 vs D3D10 vs D3D11
#1
What exactly is the difference between the three? I'm currently running Windows 7 and when playing FFXII, D3D9 seems to be the only one that keeps the CPU % from going to 99% when I go into the menu screen. It did this when I was running it on Windows Vista x64 too. Is there a significant difference between all three of these or are they pretty much the same? Anyone have any recommendations for KH and KH2 regarding which one of those to use?

It is common knows that in some Games D3D10 is faster than D3D9.
I don`t really know the latest News about D3D11, but isn`t it still in Development + Beta in Win 7.

Actually i am playing myself with Win 7 and D3D11, but i can`t see a real difference bitween 10 and 11 because i set a Frame Limit and my Computer is fast enough to get 60 FPS.

So my Advice is, if your Game runs fast enough then you shouldn`t think about this too much.

99% on menu screen is probably caused by having "allow 8-bit textures" enabled. D3D10 is recommended and generally faster and more compatible, in FFXII it should be the case as well. D3D11 is currently in alpha stages, it's buggier (if it works at all) and doesnt have anything over D3D10 at the moment.

I have 8 bit and the vsync unchecked and it still hits 99% on menus for anything other than D3D9. My specs are below average so that might explain why though?

Win7
intel core 2 duo P8600 @2.4GHz
4GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670

Running the game at 1280x768 and the same for the internal because I see no difference between native and manually setting the internal other than that it looks much nicer.
16:9 aspect ratio
8bit and vsync unchecked
SSE41 GSdx

I'm not sure what speed hacks I should have on so right now I have:
1.5x cycle rate
INTC, IOP x2, idle loop checked
status flag checked
vu cycle stealing moderate

Deepthroat, you are not playing with Dx11, because your card does not support dx11, so even if you set dx11, pcsx2 is probably running in dx10-mode

The DX11 mode doesn't have a single unique feature programmed for it. That is, it's still using DX10 shaders. There is absolutely zero benefit to DX11 mode currently.

1. Some games run faster using the dx10/11 plugin compared to dx9

2. DX10/11 seems to be more compatible vs dx9. While not everyone owns every ps2 game out there, we could only vouch as to how much compatible it is. In my case, dx10/11 is faster in armored core 3 and allows you to go through the game with armored core : last raven whereas if I use dx9, ac last raven would fail to proceed with emulation.
