I can't wait for that. Where did you get that info from?

Gabest said here that he might add it whenever he moves to Windows 10.

DX12 or Vulcan would definitely change the game for this emulator. This is great news

Don't bank on it though. As others have said Gabest is more unpredictable than the weather. He just does stuff randomly at his leisure whenever the mood strikes him. Could be tomorrow. Could be 2018. Who knows?

but since most emulated games under pcsx2 are cpu demanding, the performance gain would be neglictable.

but not non-existent.

doubtfull most ps2 game cpu heavy to begin with the gains from the lower driver overhead would be barely noticeable.

At like it been said gabest has to do and gabest probably not gona do that anytime soon,

And gregory isnt gona do cause he all about opengl and wants nothing to do with DX

also not worth the effort for that hand full of games. it all dependent on if gabest does it and i wouldnt hold your breath, we have much better chance of seeing opengl version of low api imo

That depends. The ee thread and gs thread are almost not bidirectional synchronized if i understood correctly. Additionally there is a strong dependency of gs execution on ee/vu/core emulation. If you have a dominant ee bottleneck no gpu access on the world will increase your fps.

dx12 and the async shaders and mutlithreading only helps gsdx. it'll not magically make disappear the bottleneck that is the vu processing. so...

Except for AMD where driver overhead IS the problem

yah that is amd issue, just like the opengl support, also the reduce overheard in nvidia drivers is only for DX11 and ONLY is shader cache is on, from a DX9/10 veiw the overhead between nvidia/amd probably the same, less amd is really is that bad with drivers

We will see Vulcan (less i been reading things wrong is the next incarnation of opengl?) long before DX12 support, weather AMD/INTEL bother to support opengl/vulcan as well as nvidia is another question.
