Digimon World 4 code help

So i started playing Digimon World 4 again, which i play with a buddy of mine, granted hes not very good at the game. I was searching around for an experience code, to boost his character a bit, so he isn't dying constantly. I found one and it doesn't work. I use it in a pnach file and i have converted it to raw, armax, codebreaker, and even changed the values and still to no avail. I was hoping someone could help me figure it out, or maybe even teach me how to get a code that doesn't work to work. Any help is appreciated.
