You can't overclock a laptop.
Look at EE and GS% in the titlebar when you get slowdown. If one or both are over 90%, then the slowdown is because of your system. Which I'm guessing it is.

Try it without MTVU. VU % is very high there and when it's over 80 it can cause slowdowns.

Well, that's normal. MTVU splits the VU1 off the regular EE thread. So with MTVU off all the load that was on VU thread before is now on EE. However, with a handful of games, you will have less slowdown that way.
77% EE is okay. You shouldn't slow down til over 90%.
If you still have some mild slowdown, try setting the EE cycle rate hack slider to 1 or 2.

AMD cpus have weak single threaded performance, only with a heavy OC will they play demanding games(which is why mine is @4.4)
And, you have a mobile i5, and that makes a big difference.
