USA v02.00(14/06/2004) Console
EE/IOP Rec, mVU0/mVU1, round mode Chop Zero, FtZ, DaZ, Clamping Normal.

US 2.0 bios, Default settings (other than changed the drive in gigaherz and binded controls in Lilipad that is... well and the memcard with the save). When I finished the game I had "EE timing hack" enabled for the tearing in movies but when I checked again for the hang with defaults it didn't hang anyway. Also when finished I used ISO but checked the hang using the disc too.

You made the ISO with ImgBurn? Tried it from the disc?
You still haven't showed your emulog when the error happens.

That's the thing, Emulog shows nothing when the error happens. Anyways, I managed to gloss over it by methods not allowed to be explained on the forums...not sure why as my copy works on my PS2, but...you get the picture. Must be something wrong with my DVD Drive.(I guess I do take crap care of it, always tossing it around and such.)

I have problems running this game with full speed. This game runs very slow with 20-30 Frames. Dont know why, other games like Tales of the Abyss, Shadow Hearts 2, Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne or FF12 run with Full Speed.

This is my system:
Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2 32Bit
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz
4GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT

I'm using pcsx2 0.9.7 r3276. Got the PAL Version of the Game.

My settings are:
GSdx 3273 (SSE41), Direct 3D 10/11, Res. 1440x900, everything else is on default.
Bios Europe v.02.00 (14/06/2004).
EE/FPU Advanced Options
Round Mode - Chop / Zero
Clamping Mode - Full
VU0 and VU1 Advanced Settings also like this.
No Speedhacks.

Where is the problem ?

Hi just registered to say that I'm having the IDENTICAL problem that the OP is having, the "freeze" occurs after you open Gate #4 in the Merrybell base.

ATI Radeon HD 4890
4GB ram (ddr2 maybe??)

Emulator specs:
bios - usa v2
gsdx-sse2 - 1024x768, upscale x3, texture filtering, logarithmic, 8-bit allow, and alpha correct enabled
spu2 - nothing altered
ee/iop - rec/chop/normal/flush/denormals
VUs - mvu rec/mvu rec/chop/normal/flush/denormals
gs - nothing altered
speedhacks - ee cyclerate 2/vu cycle 1/wait loop/mvu flag/mvu minmax
game fixes - ee timing

The ISO used was an undub:
Digital_Devil_Saga_Avatar_Tuner_USA_UNDUB_PS2DVD (SLUS_209.74)
which I believe is identical apart from swapped FMVs and sounds to:
Shin Megami Tensei - Digital Devil Saga - SLUS 20974

EDIT: I have the feeling the undub is the reason it's crashing. Going to attempt to use an original unedited version.

There's no support for pirated games... the problem the OP had was a faulty ISO anyway and it was solved.

Warned for piracy.
