Digital Devil Saga proper config?
#1
Anyways, like a year ago I started DDS on PCSX 0.9.5 SVN's, but got to a point I could -not- get past, nor find a fix to, I tried a million settings, different plugins, speedhacks on / off, patches, ect, but nothing.

I got to about the 4th boss in the game, it says "You feel something beyond this door, proceed?" and I hit Yes, then the next are loads up to be a black screen, a slice of white, and a black cut in the middle. I saw another user post about this when I searched, and he said he fixed it...but /sigh, did not say how.

I am now using the latest 0.9.7 from your site and would like to know if anyone has a proper config to make it past this part.

Quote:Shin Megami Tensei - Digital Devil Saga 2 SLUS 21152 U PS2 Playable 0.9.7
Shin Megami Tensei - Digital Devil Saga SLES 53458 E PS2 Playable 0.9.7
Shin Megami Tensei - Digital Devil Saga SLUS 20974 U PS2 Playable 0.9.7

So I assume it works. Game runs great, infact, no notable graphical issues(It used to in 0.9.5 or so, big globs of grey and such, but it's been fixed)

So what can I do? I searched Digital Devil Saga & DDS on the forums, but only came up with that thread about my particular issue. I also enabled the Fix in the Game Fixes section that was said to help with FMV crashes.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

Game works perfectly fine on default settings on the 0.9.7 beta, I'd say try to make a new ISO of the game and if not running from ISO already to make one with an app like ImgBurn.

It would help if you show us your settings and the emulog when you get the problem and maybe post a memory card save right before the boss (or at least say which boss is it, I have saves before most of the main bosses but "4th boss" says nothing to me Tongue), but I can tell you I finished both NTSC games without a problem.

Tongue

I have tried it on the default settings by installing a new copy into a different folder, with all the default settings being used and it won't allow me to progress past that point, let me get the topic up, it has a picture of it...

Well it's working here just fine with the 0.9.7 beta...

You didn't say if you tried making/remaking an ISO or other useful info. Is it NTSC or PAL? Emulog? Settings?

Deleted all my Ini's, hit default in every screen, ect, and it still happened. Ripped a new .iso, and it works on the PS2. It's NTSC. I did mention the settings, default, and various different configs to see if it'd work with different settings, and no avail. I always get that same graphics error in that screenshot.

Hmm Digital Devil Saga games are known to behave differently with different BIOS files (I think one of the very rare games that do this). Try using full boot or if you got a friend try using his PS2 BIOS just to check if that's the problem

Full boot didn't help any, I tried that, but figured it was hardly worth mentioning, will remember that in the future.

Different bios...hmm, I don't believe that would have any effect, as I've already tried the 1.60 and 2.00 ones. (I have a original Fat one, and my cousin has a newer slim one)

I mean different BIOS regions like USA and Europe. Not sure anyway, ShadowLady should post what she uses so we can at least test if it's that Tongue

SLUS 20974, so yeah, it's NA...Europe bios I doubt would do anything and I don't have a means to acquire them, though I'm sure if I did, it wouldn't work anways

I am stumped, yes, Shadow Lady, show us yer config, as 0.9.7's defaults don't work for me.
