Dirge of Cerberus speed problems!
#1
Hello all, this is my first thread on this forum. I apologize if this thread isn't even in the right area. I cannot get Dirge of Cerberus to run well for me. It runs at 30-40% speed. I am new to PCSX2 so I am unsure about what all the settings mean. Below are my specs if someone has the time and grace to help me out. Thank you very much!

CPU: Intel Core i7-8850H
GPU: Radeon Pro 560X
RAM: 16GB
OS: Microsoft Windows 10

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):
[code]

Ok I am know on PCSX2 1.5.0 and it is performing MUCH better, however, it cannot hold a consistent 60fps. Any ideas?

Why are you running it in software mode though? Try OpenGL and D3D11 in Hardware, then enable all the recommended speedhacks.

Start with native resolution and then maybe kick it up to x2 or x3 depending on performance.

You shouldn't have issues with this game, I run it full speed on my laptop and yours is better than mine.

Also, make sure that it's using your actual gpu and not the igpu

Running games in software mode is usually much slower.

Thanks Zangetsu21. I am now running D3D11 Hardware and it is running really well. Still experiencing drops though. What are the recommended speed hacks? And how do I make sure I AM using gpu and not igpu? Sorry for the questions but I am new and ignorant to this type of gaming. Been on consoles my whole life lol.

I'm not sure how AMD works as my laptop has an Nvidia, but in the control panel you can select the PCSX2.exe and set the dedicated GPU instead of iGPU, otherwise, right click the exe and there should be an option to launch it with the dedicated GPU or iGPU.

In the gpu plugin:
Disable mipmapping or set it to fast
Set CRC level to Full (Direct3D)
Date accuracy to Fast
Blending Accuracy to Basic

I'm not familiar with laptop gpu's but play around with the resolution until you find what works. On my laptop I usually keep it at 3x native depending on the game, I might drop it to x2 if it's a demanding game.

As for speed hacks:
EE Cycle Rate - Leave this as is
EE Cycle Skip - Leave this as is
Enable - INTC Spin Detection
Enable - Enable Wait Loop Detection
Enable - mVU Flag Hack
Enable - MTVU, this is for cpu's with 3+ cores but yours has that so it's all good.

Also, enable automatic game fixes, top left of the window -> System, and make sure it's enabled, don't activate them manually in the hacks menu.

What a lot of people also recommend is to set your Power Plan to High Performance to get a bit of a boost but I've personally never used it.
