Well I think there isn't much left to investigate, at least not on Nvidia's side.

Did a quick check with a Radeon HD 4850, doesn't seem to work there either. Don't know if it ever worked, suppose not.

And while you're at it, fix all bugs relating to non-native resolutions, implement custom resolutions in software mode and don't forget the general speed-up of course. As a little extra you could also allow for custom textures and hack SSAO support into the games.
